Storage

Lack of oil storage facilities is a key challenge for many governments in Africa. These countries aim to be energy-independent in the future, giving them more flexibility in their energy strategies. The Neptune Oil Group is working to help to meet this challenge, with new facilities currently under construction and future projects already being planned. Neptune Oil can capitalise on the expertise of the Optima Energy Group in this area: Optima Energy has already constructed storage facilities in Nigeria, at Koko on the Northern Niger Delta. A second phase of construction works is now underway at Calabar.

Increased storage capacity will provide these countries with greater resilience against global changes in crude oil prices. It will also insulate them against the fuel shortages which currently contribute to regular power outages in communities across the region.
